Pro Golf Coach
For students and instructors · iPhone and iPad · Pro Golf Coach build 15 and later · November 1, 2026
Five minutes of settings so you hear about new messages, bookings and videos right away, and so the app can keep an instructor’s open times up to date. Everything here is in the iPhone or iPad Settings app. Names shift a little between iOS versions; if a line below does not match your screen exactly, look for the closest one.
1. Allow notifications. The first time you sign in, the app asks to send notifications. Tap Allow. If you tapped Don’t Allow, fix it here:
2. Let the text show on the lock screen. If a notification only says “Notification” under “Pro Golf Coach”, iOS is hiding the message while the phone is locked. This is a privacy setting on your phone, not a fault in the app.
3. Check your Focus. A Focus such as Do Not Disturb, Sleep or Work silences notifications from apps it does not allow. Open Settings, then Focus, tap the Focus you use, then Apps (Allowed Notifications), and add Pro Golf Coach. Without that, notifications arrive silently and wait in Notification Center.
4. Cellular data (for sending videos away from Wi-Fi). Open Settings, then Cellular, scroll to Pro Golf Coach and turn it on. Videos are large, so on a limited plan wait for Wi-Fi.
5. Camera (only for a profile photo). The app asks the first time you take a photo. To change it later, open Settings, then Pro Golf Coach (on iOS 18 and later: Settings, then Apps, then Pro Golf Coach), then Camera. Nothing else needs turning on for videos: the app only sees the videos you pick yourself.
6. Calendar: Full Access. The app reads your calendars to find the times you are free, and adds booked lessons to your calendar. Only your open times are shared with students, never event titles or details.
7. Keep your open times fresh in the background. Pro Golf Coach refreshes your open times when you open the app, when your calendar changes, and in the background. For the background part:
8. Make sure your calendar and clock are in sync. Open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Calendars, and turn Calendars on if your calendar lives in iCloud. Open Settings, then General, then Date & Time, and turn on Set Automatically so lesson times show in the right time zone.
| What happens | Who is notified | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| A new message | The other person in that conversation | New message from Throw |
| A student books a lesson | The instructor | Throw booked a lesson: Tuesday, Nov 3 at 10:00 AM (in person) |
| A lesson is cancelled | The other person | Throw cancelled their lesson on Tuesday, Nov 3 at 10:00 AM. Or: Mike cancelled your lesson on Tuesday, Nov 3 at 10:00 AM |
| A swing video is added | The other person | Throw added a swing video |
| A comment or markup on a video | The other person | Mike commented on your swing video. Mike marked up your swing video. Throw commented on a swing video |
Several comments in a row on one video, within about three minutes, give one notification, not one each. The number on the app icon counts unread messages (and, for students, unread tips). Reading them in the app clears it.
Forgot password. Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen. The 6-digit code arrives from “Pro Golf Coach” (no-reply@jms-solutions.biz). If it is not in your inbox within a couple of minutes, check Junk, and add that address to your Contacts so the next one lands in the inbox.
Staying up to date. In the TestFlight app, open Pro Golf Coach and turn on Automatic Updates. A TestFlight build stops working about 90 days after it is made, so keep updating.
