Pro Golf Coach: Student Guide

For students · iPhone and iPad · Build 16 · November 2, 2026

Pro Golf Coach connects you with your golf instructor. You see what you worked on in your last lesson and what to practise, log your own practice, send swing videos and messages, and book lessons. This guide takes you from sign-up to the everyday jobs.

Getting started

  1. Get the app. Your instructor will tell you how. While the app is being tested it comes through the TestFlight app on your phone.
  2. Sign up. Open Pro Golf Coach, tap Sign Up, and under I am a… choose Student. Enter your full name, your email and a password, then tap Create Account.
  3. Enter your invite code. The next screen says “Ask your instructor for your invite code”. Your instructor adds you in their app first and sends you a 6-letter code. Type it in and tap Join. Your account is now linked to your instructor.
  4. Allow notifications when the app asks, so you hear about new messages, cancelled lessons and your instructor’s videos and comments right away.
  5. Check your settings. Tap your photo or initials at the top left, then Account, then Device Settings. Each line shows a green check or an orange warning, with a button that takes you to the right place in Settings. Open the Full Guide there opens the written settings guide on the website, jms-solutions.biz.

Already signed up but no code yet? You can sign out, close the app and come back later. Your account waits on the invite-code screen until you join.

Your home screen

WhereWhat it does
Your photo or initials, top leftA menu: Change Photo, Account and Sign Out
Latest messageThe newest message in your private chat with your instructor. Tap it to open the chat. It turns orange and says New message from when you have an unread message
Your instructorTheir name and photo
Start Here Next TimeWhat your instructor wrote down after your last lesson: where to start, what you worked on, your swing thought, your progress and your homework
Log Practice SessionThe big green button. Record what you practised
Messages, Announcements, Videos, Book a LessonThe four tiles. A small orange number on a tile means unread items
My Lesson History, My Practice HistoryEverything from past lessons, and everything you have logged
My Skills ProgressHow you are doing in Full Swing, Short Game, Putting and Course Management

The number on the app icon counts your unread messages and unread announcements. It goes away as you read them.

Start Here Next Time and your homework

After each lesson your instructor records it. The Start Here Next Time card on your home screen shows the most recent one: the starting point for next time, the date of your last lesson, what you worked on, your main swing thought, your progress in stars, and your homework. Homework is a routine (for example Alignment Drill or Tempo Drill) with the clubs to use and a note such as “10 balls each”. Until you have had a lesson logged, the card says so.

My Lesson History lists all your past lessons. You can read them but not change them.

Logging your practice

  1. Tap Log Practice Session on your home screen.
  2. Check the Date. Under Assignment, pick one of your homework assignments, or None. Picking an assignment fills in the routine and clubs. Change the clubs if you used different ones.
  3. If you chose None, say what you practised (a routine, or your own words) and pick the Clubs.
  4. Enter how many minutes you practised, and choose how it went.
  5. Add Notes for anything you noticed or want to remember, then tap Log Practice.

Your instructor sees every entry under their Practice Logs for you. My Practice History lists them all. To delete one, swipe it to the left: it disappears for your instructor too, and that can’t be undone.

My Skills Progress

Your instructor rates your skills (Not Started, Learning, Developing, Consistent or Mastered), and the app turns that into a percentage and a bar for each of the four categories. It moves as your instructor updates it after lessons. You can’t change it yourself.

Messages

Announcements

The Announcements tile shows the tips and exercises your instructor sends to all their students. An orange number on the tile means you have unread ones. Tap Reply at the top right to answer your instructor in the private chat.

Swing videos

  1. Tap the Videos tile, then Add Video, and pick a recording from your phone. Even a long recording with several swings works: the app listens and looks for each swing, and uploads just a short clip of each. You can adjust where a clip starts and ends, and add a note.
  2. For the smoothest slow motion, record in slo-mo (120 frames per second or more). The app warns you when a recording is lower than that.
  3. Open a video to watch it frame by frame and read the comments. Tap a comment’s time to jump to that moment. Type in Add a comment… to write to your instructor about it.
  4. When your instructor marks up a video, they draw on a frame with lines, arrows or circles. Tap that comment’s time and press play. A drawing marked as staying on screen is shown while the video plays, for example a circle that shows where your head should stay.
  5. Your instructor is notified when you add a video or comment, and you are notified when they comment or mark one up (“Mike marked up your swing video”). Several comments in a row on one video give one notification, not one each.

You can edit your own comments and delete the videos you added. Deleting a video removes it for both of you, with its comments, and that can’t be undone.

Booking a lesson

Tap the Book a Lesson tile. You see the times your instructor is free.

  1. Choose In Person or Virtual. An in-person lesson shows its length and place (for example “1 hour lesson at…”). For a virtual lesson, pick a length of 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
  2. Under Open Times, tap a day, then a time. Times are shown in your own time zone.
  3. In the Confirm Lesson screen you can add a Note for your instructor (optional). Payment is arranged directly with your instructor, not in the app. Tap Book.
  4. A green Lesson Booked screen appears. Your lesson is saved in the app under My Upcoming Lessons, and your instructor is notified. Adding it to your own calendar is optional (Add to My Calendar).

My Upcoming Lessons lists your booked lessons at the top of the Book a Lesson screen. For a virtual lesson, tap Join video lesson to open the video link. If your instructor hasn’t set a link, the screen says they will send it.

Cancelling. Tap Cancel under the lesson, then Cancel Lesson. The time opens up again, and your instructor is sent a message and a notification that you cancelled. If you added the lesson to your own calendar, delete it there too: deleting it from your calendar does not cancel the lesson.

Good to know.
